Amnesty International USA’s Middle East and North Africa Coordination Groups (also known as Cogroups) are a team of skilled, dedicated volunteer leaders working closely with AI staff and others to advance human rights in the MENA region. These two Cogroups seek a new volunteer leader to serve as coordinator for MENA’s action network and social media efforts.

This volunteer position is an exciting opportunity to contribute your passion for human rights in the Middle East and North Africa while leveraging your digital and social media skills. You’ll get trained and supported by AIUSA and be part of a community of activists advancing human rights in the MENA region.

As MENA Action Network and Social Media Coordinator, you’ll work with partners to…

  • Design social media strategy for the MENA Twitter and Facebook pages and develop Instagram as a tool (i.e. by posting Instagram stories on key releases)
  • Increase our digital footprint after assessing current online presences and recommending improvements for growing the MENA Action Network
  • Provide more effective engagement and stronger relationships with Action Network members by turning mailings from a word document into a digital newsletter
  • Generate and distribute social media content regularly (through tracking AI press releases, urgent actions, blog posts, etc.)
  • Increase the visibility of our advocacy and campaigning efforts through targeting online audiences
  • Train Amnesty Coordination Group colleagues on social media best practices
  • Empower online activists to take action regularly on MENA through developing engaging activities outside of content that comes directly from the International Secretariat
