As the Information Accuracy Board Chair, you’ll lead efforts to ensure that all Gender Freedom Society (GFS) communications and educational materials are accurate, credible, and aligned with our mission and values. This is a key volunteer leadership position focused on maintaining integrity, transparency, and trust across everything we share with our community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the Information Accuracy Board (IAB) in reviewing and fact-checking GFS materials, including educational resources, training modules, publications, and social media content.
    • Develop and implement standardized review procedures, policies, and training that promote consistency and editorial integrity across the organization.
    • Collaborate closely with GFS staff, volunteers, and board members to ensure all public-facing content reflects our mission, values, and commitment to accuracy.
    • Support the Education Team by ensuring all research and training materials—covering topics such as healthcare, legal aid, emergency services, and community resources—are factually sound and appropriately sourced.
    • Recruit, train, and guide volunteer reviewers, fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture grounded in respect and inclusion.

    Ideal Qualifications

    • Proven experience in fact-checking, editorial review, or research verification, ideally related to advocacy, education, or nonprofit settings.
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience setting up workflows, leading teams, or overseeing projects.
    • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively across diverse teams and subject areas.
    • Familiarity with or interest in topics related to trans and gender-diverse communities is highly valued.

    Time Commitment

Approx. 6–10 hours per month, with a flexible schedule and collaborative team meetings as needed.

    Benefits

    • Help protect and uplift trans and gender-diverse narratives through responsible, accurate communication.
    • Build leadership experience in nonprofit governance, editorial policy, and quality assurance.
    • Contribute to fostering a culture of transparency, trust, and equity within an affirming community.
