UpRoot Colorado (UpRoot) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to measurably reduce surplus protective foods in Colorado, support the resilience of farmers and increase the nutritional security of our state’s residents.
We were formed after Feeding the 5000 Front Range, a one-day food-waste-awareness event held in Denver in October 2016. After three years under fiscal sponsorship from Denver-based Impact Charitable, we received our Letter of Determination from the IRS in March of 2020 and are now a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (and, soon after, purchased a QuickBooks Online account).
Our team is now two full-time and three part-time dedicated people working to build organizational capacity. And, on that note, we currently have a need for help from a certified public accountant (pro bono or at a sliding-scale rate) in our efforts to audit our financial statements and year-end reports. We estimate that it would require between 4-8 hours per business quarter.
We appreciate your consideration!
