Special Olympics PA Philadelphia is seeking a dedicated and passionate community leader to coordinate and support community-based play and sports programming for children with and without intellectual disabilities through the Young Athletes program. The Young Athletes Program Coordinator is a great volunteer program management opportunity for someone with a background in education, early childhood development, youth sports, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation and community organizing with a mission to promote inclusion.
The Young Athletes Program Coordinator will support Special Olympics PA program staff in setting up training sites in Philadelphia, recruiting volunteer coaches and participating families for approximately 15 weeks, 6-8 hours per week.
SOPA Philly is the Philadelphia chapter of Special Olympics Pennsylvania, a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization that provides sports training and athletic competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. All of our programs are completely free to registered athletes. We offer year-round sports training and competition through school-based programming and at community training sites throughout Philadelphia.
