ABOUT MULTICOLORES:
Multicolores is an association of more than 60 Mayan women artists, based in 9 rural communities in Guatemala, who create original works of textile art using rug hooking and embroidery. The artists represent three different Mayan languages groups: Kakchiquel, K’iche and Tz’utujil. Through their work, the artists celebrate their Mayan heritage and become catalysts for social change in their families and communities.
Multicolores supports the artists through three programs: creative and economic development, health and well-being and leadership. The programs have been transformational leading to compelling and inspiring artwork, healthy communities, and emerging women leaders.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Gallery and Sales Associate ensures that all goals and objectives established for the gallery are met; monitoring sales, controlling inventory, establishing long-term relationships with clients who visit the gallery through excellent customer service, contributing to the financial sustainability of Multicolores.
You will join a small, dynamic, and highly motivated team and play a key role in ensuring the continued growth and impact of Multicolores as a non-profit social enterprise.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
-CUSTOMER SERVICE
a) Provide excellent customer service
b) Keep track of interactions with clients
-SALES
a) Meet quarterly, semi-annual, and annual sales targets
b) Maintain a sales system
-INTERNAL PROCESSES
a) Process payments
b) Manage inventory
c) Provide sales reports
d) Manage petty cash
e) Other tasks as assigned
-GALLERY & MERCHANDIZING
a) Maintain the gallery and products displays
b) Organize gallery events
c) Schedule and coordinate individual and group visits
d) Lead visits and presentations in the gallery
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
· High school degree
· Intermediate proficiency in Excel and the Cloud
· Excellent communication skills
· Be self-motivated and willing to learn
· Passion for Multicolores’ brand and mission
Preferred
· Retail, customer service and/or sales experience is a plus
· English is an advantage
· University studies in economic sciences, merchandizing, gallery studies, retail management
