Non-formal Education with high-school teenagers in a local NGO

Onestin organization is a NGO with 15 years of experience working on local youngsters' personal development.

Throughout the years, the NGO organized different events with the local community: Christmas Carols in the hospitals and elderly houses, sports & arts with young people from the penitentiary, Children's Day public event, Poetry, Music & Theater trainings and contests, Bike Festival, renovation of the local park and many others.

Also, we've participated and organized different types of projects under the European programmes, including youth exchanges, training courses, job shadowing, volunteering.

Current time, we are preparing to host 2 youth exchanges in the summer time, both with 30 participants from 5 countries each, including in a nutshell: Greece, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Kosovo, Sweden.

We are also about to send groups to Italy, Austria, Spain, Portugal.

At the organization's headquarters, which for now consists in a main activity room, a small office, a small bathroom and a big kitchen, we are running almost on daily bases activities: non formal sessions, guitar lessons, theater exercises, handmade and crafts, picking up and garbage cleaning around the town and others.

Sleepovers, cinema nights, board games nights or social dinners are common as well.

The main task of the international volunteers is to coordinate the local volunteers, provide them active tasks, join the activities they organize for developing the cultural exchange, propose and facilitate activities according to the profile of the organization or the needs of the group (recently we had an italian volunteer organizing weekly a body discovering workshop), and help in general with the maintenance of the place.
