The Schenectady Greenmarket is looking for volunteers to help keep our market running safely during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have a variety of different volunteer needs and you can help out one Sunday or several Sundays if you're available! Please see more info below.

Assignments:

Entrance Monitors AM 9:30-12, PM 12-2:15

Official Market entrances are: Clinton St - Liberty St entrance; Franklin St - Clinton St or one of the Jay St entrances as assigned.

Crowd Control AM 9:30-12, PM 12-2:15

Stroll through the market assisting customers and vendors in maintaining a safe environment.

Set up AM 7-9:30

Assist with setting up market barricades, cones, signage and other safety measures before the market opens. Assist with setting up tents for all entry points with hand sanitizer, masks, etc.

Tear down PM 1:30-3:30

Assist with taking down market barricades, cones, signage and other safety measures after the market closes. Assist with taking down tents at all entry points.

Personal Shoppers PM 11-1

Put together customer orders from OUR online store for curbside pick up.

Things all volunteers do except set up, personal shoppers, and tear down:

Market does not open until 10 am please ask customers to wait outside until then. Make sure customers waiting to enter are maintaining appropriate social distance, spacers on the ground mark out 6 ft.

Welcome customers to the market and assist them with any issues - Can’t find a vendor, need a rest room, need an ATM…

Remind customers to wear their masks correctly if they are not doing so. If they don’t have a mask give them one. If they refuse they cannot enter/stay. Children under 2 do not need to wear masks.

If a customer has an issue with any rules, gently remind them we need to enforce these rules to keep the market open. Be friendly!

If someone is uncooperative or becomes rude let Assistant Manager and/or Manager know.

At the entrances:

In the morning or anytime market is busy, count incoming customers. Notify Assistant Manager via walkie talkie if crowd density is looking too high. If the area you can see is too crowded for proper social distancing hold new customers at entrance until other customers leave the market.

If at any time Manager or Assistant Manager says to hold the incoming crowd ask people to wait until they tell you it is okay for more customers to enter.

Count customers entering the market for 5 minutes every half hour and enter info on market costumer count sheet at the market table.

Crowd Control:

If you see folks entering at spots other than designated entrance/exit locations redirect them to official entrances, green tents.

If customers are lining up for a vendor, encourage them to line up in a way which does not block traffic, get spacers to mark off correct social distance from the market table.

If you see customers eating or drinking in the market remind them they need to leave the market if they want to eat or drink.

Discourage social gatherings in the middle of market.
