The NexxtOne Academy (N1A) Board of Directors is comprised of leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on the N1A Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing STEAAM -- science, technology, engineering, arts, athletic, and math -- programs to Black and Latino middle and high school students in DC's historic Anacostia neighborhood.

The ideal Board members will also care about governance, be able to provide financial support, and are willing to identify programmatic and financial resources on behalf of N1A. Board Members are appointed for a three-year term, with re-appointment possible for a second term. Board commitments include:

  • Be an active member of the Board of Directors and attend monthly meetings; read board materials in advance of board meetings and come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions
  • Promote N1A and the organization's programs and activities to your network
  • Serve on at least one Board Standing Committee - finance, fundraising, governance, or programs
  • Provide financial support to N1A by leveraging personal relationships and connections to help the development committee and staff identify and solicit potential funders, as well as directly invest in N1A by making a personal contribution each year
  • Cultivate perspective new Board members based on identified needs, skills, and passion for the N1A mission

Previous Board experience preferred.
