Food and Wellness AmeriCorps VISTA

Reporting to the Housing Manager, the Food and Wellness VISTA will serve to improve communication, and supply chain development with existing and new donors, other non-profits, for profit businesses. This VISTA will strengthen and develop the meal service program for Our House.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with programs to identify meal needs across campus
• Recruit potential one-time and on-going meal servers to meet campus needs
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteer meal servers
• Provide new meal servers with a meal-planning guide and in-person orientation
• Collaborate with the Volunteer Relations VISTA, Career Center VISTA, Mentorship Program VISTA and Children’s Program VISTA to coordinate and execute bi-weekly volunteer orientations
• Manage online website and physical meal service calendar
• Develop a sustainable communication system with ongoing meal servers

Compensation

This is a full-time national service position that provides a living allowance of approximately $13,399.15 over the course of one year ($513.94 every two weeks). You also have the choice of one of two awards at the end of a successful year of service: a $1,800 cash stipend bonus or a $6,195.00 education award for future educational expenses or federal student loans. Health insurance is available. Some additional health benefits are available to VISTA Members to help with the cost of co-pays and other medical expenses. Childcare assistance and relocation assistance are available to VISTA Members who qualify. One year of non-competitive eligibility is also available. Some professional development training opportunities are offered and paid for by Our House. You are responsible for your own housing and other living expenses.

Qualifications

The AmeriCorps VISTA will be thoroughly committed to Our House’s mission and to national service. All candidates should have the following qualifications and experience:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking skills.
• Strong people skills, with ability to form effective working relationships with a wide range of people.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to drive multiple simultaneous projects to completion.
• At least 18 years of age.
• A United States Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Available to begin serving on August 30, 2021 for a one-year term.
