Vigil Volunteer Responsibilities

As a Vigil Volunteer, I agree to:

1. Make every effort to accept vigil care requests
2. Follow all Vigil Volunteer procedures outlined in Vigil Volunteer training
3. Complete and turn in vigil care activity and time documentation forms in a timely manner
4. Call my Vigil Volunteer Coordinator as needed for ongoing communication
5. Immediately notify facility staff if I observe any changes in the patient’s condition
6. Immediately notify facility staff, call AdventHealth Hospice and call my Vigil Volunteer Coordinator if the patient dies during my vigil care visit
7. Maintain an appropriate and advised dress code for vigil care visits
8. Wear Hospice of the Comforter identification badge for vigil care visits
9. Arrive at vigil care visits early
10. Remain at vigil care visits until the next volunteer or clinical staff arrive unless otherwise directed
11. Work in cooperation with facility staff and honor individual facility protocols
12. Attend Vigil Volunteer meetings and training updates as requested
13. Request support for myself as needed during and following vigil care visits from Vigil Volunteer Coordinator
