Join our volunteer network of Innovative English Teachers!

We harness the power of technology to provide Haitians living in both Haiti and the diaspora low-cost opportunities to learn and practice their English. Our method centers on providing accessible, relationship-based, and culturally-appropriate education.

As a volunteer teacher, your job description will include:

-Teaching a 12-week class for 2 hours each week over Google Meet, Zoom, and Whatsapp

-Recording up-to-date attendance and ensuring all required organizational surveys are taken by students

-Prepping lesson plans for students that create opportunities to practice vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening

-Creating a grading system for your course and maintaining up-to-date grades

-Building relationships with students to improve learning experiences and encourage positive outcomes

-Attending "teacher meet-ups" when available to learn from and support other volunteer teachers

While we are enthusiastic about former/current teachers, TOEFL certified individuals, people with Haitian Creole or French skills, no prior experience is strictly necessary! What is necessary is patience with technology, flexibility to teach students with sometimes poor internet connections, a willingness to learn new methods, a positive attitude, commitment, and a passion for providing opportunities!

All new teachers are asked to participate in a at-your-own-pace training. We provide a curriculum as well as strong support from fellow volunteers!
