About Human Connections
Human Connections (HC) is a nonprofit organization that connects visitors with local people through responsible travel experiences. Based on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, we offer day tours, travel programs for university students, as well as virtual versions of these programs. All of our educational experiences foster profound cross-cultural exchange and increased economic opportunities for our local partners, who are families of Mexican artisans and entrepreneurs. About our Virtual Tours:
In response to the impact COVID-19 has had on the tourism-reliant Riviera Nayarit communities, HC is working with our partners to create Virtual Tours. Even after travel resumes, these tours are envisioned as a sustainable way to support partners’ livelihoods during the low tourism season while making cross-cultural experiences accessible to all.
Our Virtual Tours will be documentary-style, pre-recorded videos that last roughly 30 minutes each. Going beyond a tutorial, each of these videos provides a rarely seen glimpse into one of our partner’s daily lives and highlights their creative process. The virtual tours will walk visitors through the steps to make something inspired by the specific partner(s) they visit, and can be coupled with a live component hosted by the partner. The specific format of the virtual tours can be creatively adjusted by the videographer and HC team.
By May 2021, we plan to publicly launch our first three Virtual Tours. Below is the proposed timeline for reaching this objective. Note that the videographer will work with the existing team to accomplish each of these objectives, and that only the items marked with asterisks are the videographer’s sole responsibility.
