Access Youth Academy is a nonprofit after-school program that supports underserved, low-income students from middle and high schools across San Diego County. Students enrolled in our program are taught and trained in the sport of squash while participating in a variety of academic enrichment opportunities, including tutoring, academic check-ins, college advising support and more. Our mission is to provide the necessary resources for students to apply and graduate from a 4-year college/university. We accomplish this by empowering youth to excel through our program, combining academic support, community service and the sport of squash.
Access Youth Academy is seeking experienced individuals to tutor our students in-person at least 3 times a month in the following subjects: Math, Science and Spanish. Tutors will be able to establish their schedule based on availability but should prepare to work with students any day between M-F from 3:00 - 6:00 PM. Our program is conducted in-person so we are looking for tutors that are available to meet and tutor our students in-person at our new facility, located in Southeast San Diego.
As an organization that works to serve low income students and families across San Diego, we believe that our volunteer tutors are an extension of the work that we have already begun - to provide academic support to youth in the greater San Diego community. Not to mention, it is also a great way to gain experience working with youth in an educational environment.
