Mentor Youth in Foster Care

COVID-19 Update: Our entire screening process can now be done from home! At SLM, we are persevering through distance limitations, and identifying important resources foster youth need to cope with the COVID-19 emergency. We are still accepting mentors for our programs.

SLM mentors offer consistent friendship to our youth (ages 7- 23) and teach essential skills and life lessons for adulthood. We're looking for genuine and real people who can meet our youth where they're at. You don't need to be perfect, you just need to be open and willing to be a great friend to a young person. In this time of uncertainty, it is so important that we continue to create community and strengthen bonds.

Looking to lift up the next generation? Get started by attending an info session online today! Join us by phone, tablet, or computer and hear from staff about the fun and meaningful ways to stay connected and involved in your community during these times.

Founded in 2001, Silver Lining Mentoring empowers foster youth in Greater Boston to flourish through committed mentoring relationships and the development of essential life skills. We provide long-term one-to-one mentoring and life skills development for young people who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. Volunteer mentors are often the only adults in our youth’s lives who are not paid to spend time with them.

Become a mentor and support a young person in foster care as they strive to reach their life goals. Follow the Eventbrite link to sign up for one of our upcoming info sessions to take the first step to volunteer with Silver Lining Mentoring.
