Position Summary
Yuvoice is offering a unique volunteer leadership opportunity for a passionate and ambitious fundraising professional looking to drive fundraising efforts to support the next generation of citizen journalists to lead transformative impact within their societies. As the Volunteer Director of Major Gifts & Grants, you will lead efforts to cultivate individual donors and manage institutional funding strategies, while overseeing a small team of volunteer grant writers and development coordinators. Key Responsibilities
Major Gifts (Individual Giving)
- Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, and steward individual donors capable of giving gifts of $10,000+
- Manage a portfolio of prospective and current major donors with personalized engagement plans
- Lead donor communications and virtual/in-person engagement efforts in partnership with the leadership team
Grants & Institutional Fundraising
- Research and prioritize institutional funding opportunities (foundation, corporate, and government grants)
- Oversee the grant writing and submission process, including editing and aligning materials with Yuvoice’s programs
- Coordinate the development calendar to ensure timely applications and reports
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor a small team of volunteer grant writers and fundraising coordinators
- Collaborate cross-functionally with communications and program teams to align messaging and impact narratives
- Build systems and tools to strengthen fundraising operations and tracking
Reporting & Strategy
- Maintain organized donor and grant records using CRM tools
- Track progress toward fundraising goals and share insights with leadership
- Contribute to fundraising strategy sessions and storytelling initiatives
Who You Are
- A mission-aligned emerging or mid-career professional with a background or strong interest in fundraising, nonprofit management, or philanthropy
- Experienced in or excited to learn about major gifts and grant development
- A strong communicator and relationship-builder who thrives in a collaborative environment
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Looking to grow your leadership experience, build your portfolio, and contribute meaningfully to a cause you care about
Time Commitment
- 10–15 hours per month, flexible schedule
- 6-month minimum commitment preferred
- Occasional team calls or donor meetings (virtual)
