    Reading Connections ESOL In-Person Tutor (High Point)

    ESOL In Person Tutor (High Point)

    Hours: 4 hours per week between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

    Days: Monday/Wednesday, Tuesday/Thursday, or Wednesday/Friday

    Location: Greensboro

    Time Commitment: Minimum six-month commitment to flexible based on your availability.

    Position Summary

    The ESOL In Person Tutor plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the Reading Connections Literacy Program Team in both our High Point location. In this role, you’ll empower adult learners to improve their English skills and confidence through engaging face to face sessions. Tutors work one-on-one or with small groups to practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing. A clear curriculum, lesson materials, and syllabus are provided to guide instruction, along with comprehensive training and ongoing staff support to help you feel confident and successful every step of the way. By serving in this role, you will directly contribute to creating opportunities that empower adult learners and strengthen our community.

    Session Locations:

    Sessions take place in our High Point office during regular business hours, a local library, or another public location convenient for both you and your student. Our staff is always available to help coordinate locations and schedules, ensuring a smooth and supportive tutoring experience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Meet with students in person for engaging one-on-one lessons twice a week, two hours per session, for a total of 4 hours per week.
    • Record daily attendance and submit it at the end of each week or month.
    • Share student updates, progress, and any concerns with ESOL staff.
    • Use the provided curriculum and syllabus to plan engaging, level-appropriate lessons.
    • Encourage active participation and help students strengthen their real-life communication skills.
    • Stay connected with program staff for guidance, resources, and ongoing support to ensure a successful tutoring experience.

    Ideal Candidate:

    • A friendly, patient, and encouraging communicator who enjoys helping others learn and grow.
    • Reliable and committed to maintaining a consistent weekly schedule.
    • Enthusiastic about working with adults from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
    • Comfortable facilitating small-group discussions and interactive learning activities.
    • Teaching or tutoring experience is a plus—but not required! Comprehensive training and support are provided.
