WeINSPIRE fosters community through programming, internships, social media, and original reporting that uses an inspirational lens to share current events and promote narratives of everyday people.

The WeINSPIRE Movement is seeking a grant writer with a proven record in writing successful proposals for diverse funding sources; an entrepreneurial approach to fund development; and skills in demographic data collection and analysis. Previous experience working with non-profit organizations is preferred and a background in fundraising in news and media is highly desirable.

The grant writer will work closely with the Finance Committee, which is charged with the vision, creation, and implementation of the organization’s fundraising and development plan, with support from the Chief Executive Officer.

The Grant Writer’s core responsibilities will include:

• Grant prospect research

• Writing and preparing grant proposals for submission.

• Consistent and clear communication with management about grant prospects, proposal and reporting requirements, and deadlines.

• Regular collection and analysis of demographic and other important program-related data to enhance and advance the organization’s needs statement and proposals.

• Development and maintenance of grant templates and materials.

• Professional and confidential management of grant records, organizational documents, and data.

• Crafting organzation’s story with impact

Proposals must include:

a. A cover letter to the attention of WeINSPIRE Finance Team.

b. The cover letter and resume should detail the applicant’s experience in writing and submitting government, corporate, or private foundation grants. Experience in all three is desirable, but not required. The narrative should include at a minimum the following:

c. Types of organizations to which the applicant has provided services and examples of programs supported by grant writing services.

d. Examples of grant sources from which the applicant has successfully obtained funding (provide specific examples of grant programs, government agencies, or foundations, amounts, and purposes of grants).

e. An excerpt from a successful grant written by the applicant that is representative of his/her writing style. The excerpt should not exceed 5 pages and should not contain any confidential or proprietary information.

f. A minimum of two (2) references from clients where the applicant has successfully performed similar work.

Compensation And Contract Award

WeINSPIRE plans to select and award the contract to the best-qualified fundraising professional or organization in March or April. This contract is for 6-9 weeks for a stipend or paid on a commission basis with a certain percentage of the amount of funding requested. The percentage varies of the total approved amount of grant
