Please share the gift of your music with our hospice patients! Bristol Hospice is looking for volunteers who play a portable instrument such as a guitar, violin, flute, kalimba, ukulele, harmonica etc. to visit hospice patients in care homes and facilities. As a hospice volunteer you would have personal interactions with patients at the end of life. Hospice music volunteers visit patients in nursing homes, assisted living communities and private homes and would play live music for them. Music visits offer a welcome distraction from illness and help people feel a little less lonely.
One study suggests that people in hospice who listen to live music in their rooms feel better both emotionally and physically. Music can be a source of joy, relief and decreased anxiety for those on hospice. Because a primary goal of hospice services is comfort care, music is an ideal option for providing comfort to patients who often feel isolated. If you are looking for a special opportunity, please contact us today.
Your volunteer time is flexible and valued! When you are a part of the Bristol Volunteer Team, you receive training, support, a network of fellow volunteers and staff.
