The board of directors is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the organization.  To that end it:

  1. Assists Executive Director and Founder in carrying out its mission
  2. Assist the CEO (and/or designee) with developing and executing strategies that are intended to create and uphold a positive image for the organization
  3.  Establishes policies and procedures for communicating with the public/media
  4. Be familiar with and execute the Strategic Plan
  5. Be familiar with the By-Laws
  6. Know the mission and vision statements

 Responsibilities:

·      Developing and setting objectives for the Public Relations team

·      Maximizing brand presence on various channels (e.g. web, TV and social media)

·      Cultivating and maintaining relationships with media and influential professionals.

·      Create marketing messages that positively raise the public image of the organization

  •  Understand and promote the organization’s mission
  • Be familiar with the organization’s programs, policies, and operations
  • Attend board meetings and appropriate committee meetings
  • Actively serve on at least one committee and offer to take on special assignments
  • Make a meaningful personal monthly monetary contribution according to his/her means
  • Maintain donor relationships
  • Participate in the development and attendance of fund-raising activities and special events
  • Strictly adhere to conflict of interest policies
  • Strictly adhere to confidentiality policies
  • Review agenda and supporting documents prior to meeting
  • Review minutes of meetings for approval and filing

 Time Demands (approximate):

  • Attend and actively participate in at least 75% of board meetings (10 monthly board meetings, approximately two (2) hours in length, on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, except December) via Microsoft TEAMS
  • Attend and actively participate in committee meetings and related work (1-3 hours per month or as determined by the committee)
  • Attend and actively participate in the annual retreat
  • Attend special events such as fundraisers and groundbreaking ceremonies

Financial and Resource Development Expectations:

  • Sell tickets to fundraising events
  • Recruit sponsors, as needed
  • Identify and cultivate potential donors
