NYC Plover Project Piping Plover & Shorebird Beach Ambassador Volunteer

Piping Plovers are endangered species that nest right on the sand and NEED YOUR HELP! We are a new non-profit organization in need of volunteers. You can be a roving volunteer speaking with beachgoers and distributing information at the beach or a fixed position volunteer at the Riis Park Beach Bazaar. We need help every day of the week - from Memorial Day until August. The nests will appear soon and we have a mandatory volunteer training this Thursday, 5/20! We are partnering with Gateway National Recreation Area/ National Park Service, on the beaches of Queens, NYC - principally, Jacob Riis Park, Fort Tilden and Breezy Point Tip. All volunteers get a fantastic new NYC Plover Project t-shirt to wear during your shifts and a NYC Plover Project beach bag! Look forward to seeing you at the beach!
