Atlanta Angels believes that not everyone is called to foster or adopt, but everyone can make a difference in a child's life. One way you can make an impact is through our Dare to Dream program. The Dare to Dream program focuses on one-on-one mentoring for youth (ages 11-22) who are in foster care, at-risk to age out, or have aged-out. Mentors serve as positive role models who meet with their youth to build relationships and empower them to accomplish their goals. As a mentor, you will have the opportunity to provide youth who are in or have aged out of care with the one-on-one support they need to feel safe, capable, and loved.
This program requires a one-year commitment, with meetings at least twice a month with your mentee.
We are currently seeking specific mentors to be matched with youth on our waitlist! We are specifically looking for volunteers in or around the Forest Park area for youth number #160.
This youth is a senior in HS graduating May 2025 with plans to go to GSU in the Fall on a pre-med track. She is very excited to enter the medical field, as it has been a goal of hers for many years. She spent several years in foster care before her foster mom became her permanent guardian in 2024. She has been matched with two mentors before who both ended up unexpectedly moving out of state, so being matched with a mentor who will be stable and a long-term support is essential for her. Her wants for a mentor beyond this is that they work in the medical field and enjoy eating food. She would benefit from a mentor who is consistent, non-judgmental, and encouraging, particularly as they walk her through the big transition to higher ed.
