Title: Volunteer Lead Project Facilitator - Finding Solutions to Hunger Project

Location:  Remote (USA)

Position Reports to: Director of Global Education and Outreach

Start Date: June 2021

Time Commitment: A few hours per week (3-5)

Position Overview: The Lead Project Facilitator will utilize established lesson plans and activities and their own expertise to facilitate broad participation by K-12 iEARN classrooms (educators and students) around the world to begin to understand the root causes of hunger in the world and to take meaningful action for its elimination.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

●      Develop and communicate project format and guidelines to establish clear expectations

●      Invite network educators to participate in the project

●      Welcome new participants and monitor online discussions and activity

●      Support educators with resources to integrate the project into their own curriculum and address the learning needs of their students

●      Develop a structure that assists educators in finding partners for collaboration

●      Foster collaboration and interaction among participants, particularly students

●      Work with Section Facilitators to ensure timely response to participants’ questions and concerns

●      Use iEARN's online platform for project discussions and exchange of student work

●      Update project information periodically and send reminders to participants

●      Involve alumni students in project discussions and other leadership roles

●      Develop project product options that reflect solutions  to hunger in local and global communities

●      Facilitate an event or forum to exhibit and share student work

●      Promote post-project surveys

●      Analyze the project results and utilize the feedback to improve the project

 Qualifications

●      Leadership - models high levels of motivation; engages, inspires, encourages, guides, and/or gains others’ support toward accomplishing team and project goals

●      Communication Skills: Expresses ideas and facts in a clear and understandable manner appropriate for the individual or group; listens to and comprehends what others are saying; prepares organized and structured presentations; has demonstrated ability to work with sensitive issues and communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

●      Project facilitation or management experience

●      Classroom experience or experience working with youth programs preferred

●      Cross-cultural competency; experience working in another country or in a cross-cultural environment strongly preferred

●      Capacity to maintain schedules and meet deadlines

●      Flexible and adaptable to change

●      Access to a laptop and the internet

●      Technical computer skills in Google Suite or similar software

●      The position can work during the week and weekends
