About Masa:

Masa partners with Mexican and Latin American immigrant children, youth, and families in the South Bronx to develop strong learners and leaders who fully contribute to the broader community.

About Unidos en Ollin:

Unidos En Ollin (Unidos En Movimiento) is a four-week, bilingual (Spanish and English) virtual summer program for Black and Brown youth between 14 to 18 years of age. The purpose of the program is to support youth with developing a critical lens about issues that impact them and their communities while sharpening their leadership skills. During these four weeks, youth will select a community issue they want to tackle and engage in research in order to propose a community solution.

A volunteer with the Unidos En Ollin summer program will support the virtual implementation of the program. Volunteers are expected to engage with youth during break-out rooms, support the implementation of lesson plans, assist youth in developing their community projects; and, if possible, be available to chaperone an end-of-program celebration at a local park.

The ideal volunteer is a dynamic, bilingual (Spanish/English) person who is eager to support positive youth development, especially with adolescent Black and Brown youth, and has a strengths-based approach.

  • Providing virtual classroom support during sessions including reviewing lesson plans well in advance
  • Promoting a healthy environment for students during virtual sessions
  • Helping chaperone and lead group activities (if opportunity arises)
  • Support with miscellaneous administrative tasks, as needed

  • Have a passion for working with Black and Brown youth
