The Math Circles of Chicago creates opportunities for all children across Chicago to develop a passion for mathematics.

Math Circles of Chicago achieves its mission by providing free, unique math enrichment programs for 5th–12th grade students of diverse backgrounds.

MC2 currently hosts eight sites across the city and expects to expand to several more sites over the upcoming years. Our mission is to provide access to math enrichment to any interested 5th to 12th grader in the city.

We are seeking lead teachers and volunteers. Lead teachers are paid a stipend to run one to two hour sessions up to 13 times a year. These sessions occur on weekday afternoons or on Saturdays. Volunteers assists those lead teachers without pay. In the fall of 2020 we are adding 15 classrooms in afterschool programs in some of Chicago's under resourced neighborhoods, and we are seeking volunteers to support those teachers as well.

The teachers we seek should have a strong interest and considerable curiosity in mathematics. They also believe that to create a more just society, we need to provide all children the opportunity to engage in rich mathematics. Our teachers are typical experienced school teachers, graduate students in math, or others who have experience in math enrichment programs.
