    Description

Join a small team of grant writers/researchers who are passionate about saving lives with safe water. We are seeking a person with strong writing skills, and strong research skills, preferably from an academic background.

The right volunteers for the team should be responsive and reliable. Work is done virtually, but there are monthly team meetings (1/2-1 hour in length) done via Zoom which are critical for all to attend. These meetings are used for training and team building, among other purposes. We’re an all-volunteer nonprofit, with everyone working remotely from all over the world, so it is critical that team members feel like a community.

The funds raised from grants will be directed to saving lives with safe water in Niger, West Africa. If you have a passion for helping people in the developing world, especially women and girls, this is a great way to help. Please visit our website (wellsbringhope.org), watch some of our videos and reach out to us!

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Use databases to research foundations whose goals are in alignment with the work that we do
    • Use your experience and insights to help us determine our best grant prospects and make recommendations for proposals to be written
    • Collaborate with other Wells Bring Hope volunteers to research and identify possible grants
    • Write and edit persuasive grant proposals and reports

    Skills:

    • A background in research, which can range from research in fields such as literature, science, or journalism
    • Good writing skills, the ability to clearly communicate and write succinctly
    • Reliable in terms of meeting deadlines, ability to live up to a commitment to complete a project

    Who are we?

Wells Bring Hope is committed to drilling wells that bring safe water and sanitation to rural villages in Niger - the poorest country in the world - where one out of seven children die before their 5th birthday. The burden to get water falls on women and girls who walk 4-6 miles a day to find water, which is often contaminated.

Wells Bring Hope was founded in 2008 by founder and president, Barbara Goldberg. Since its inception, WBH has funded over 800 solar well taps and 8 solar powered health clinic wells, impacting the lives of over 850,000 people. When a well is drilled, child mortality drops by over 70%; girls go to school and women have the time to work and earn money for their families.

We view the drilling of a well as the first step in reversing a downward spiral of poverty. Working with our partner, World Vision, we provide 15+ years of education in sanitation, hygiene, and well maintenance for each village where we drill a well.

As an all-volunteer nonprofit, we regard those who work with us as the "lifeblood" of our organization. Your volunteering is more than just a drop in the bucket, it is life changing. We invite you to join our cause and help make a lasting impact on the lives of others.
