About The Black Archives:

The Black Archives of Mid-America exists to collect, preserve and make available to the public materials documenting the social, economic, political and cultural histories of persons of African descent in the Central United States, with an emphasis on the Kansas City, Missouri, region. The Black Archives combats information poverty by providing accessible information about Black communities in an area with limited virtual and in-person resources about local history and culture. Member Duties:

Make documents and artifacts accessible to communities on the Black Archives website by working with the archivist, identify historical significance of documents and artifacts; digitize and catalogue documents and artifacts; and using existing storage processes, properly store catalogued documents and artifacts.
