Purpose:

The Membership Chair shall serve as an integral leader on the Democrats Abroad Mexico City (DACDMX) Executive Board and shall coordinate strategies to retain and grow DACDMX membership and maintain the membership database.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategy, timeline, budget, and goals for membership initiatives, working closely with the Community Engagement Chair. 
  • Develop and lead the DACDMX Membership Committee, composed of interested volunteers and other Board members. Provide training, support, and support for those volunteers.
  • Encourage the Chair and/or Vice-Chair to reply to reach out to new members in response to welcome letters.
  • Ensure that membership records at the chapter level are being maintained in a manner consistent with DPCA requirements and applicable data security laws.
  • Manage the annual membership database validation to be completed no later than January 31 of each year. 
  • Manage member phonebanking to get out the vote in election years, working closely with the Chapter Chair and GOTV Chair.
  • In presidential election years, work closely with the board to increase participation in the Global Presidential Primary.
  • Serve on the DAMX Membership Committee.
  • In consultation with the DAMX Membership Chair and Chapter Chair, consider outreach to areas for sub-chapters. 
  • Coordinate volunteers for other committees and activities.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Chair.


Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Strong communication skills required. 
  • Willingness to learn and use Nationbuilder required (no prior experience needed).
  • Previous database management experience preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Experience volunteering or familiarity with Democrats Abroad preferred.
  • Willingness to use Google Workspace/Google Drive and WhatsApp preferred.


Additional Requirements:

  • US citizenship.
  • Over the age of 18.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Current Democrats Abroad membership or willingness to join (no fee).
  • Ability to attend monthly hour-long meetings with the board on the third Saturday of each month at 1pm CDT (via Zoom).
  • Residence in the greater Mexico City area (or surrounding states, including Puebla, Hidalgo, Estado de Mexico, Morelos, etc)
  • Commit to this position through March 2023 (barring unforeseen events).
