Regional Ambassadors will play a key role in improving access to mental health services by: 1) contributing localized knowledge of their regions to our national directory, and 2) disseminating our organization to populations in need. First, their role will be to identify and add free or affordable mental health resources to our directory. Specifically, Regional Ambassadors will use their networks and various search strategies (e.g., calling mental health agencies, using Google search, reviewing existing directories) to locate and add resources that are a good fit for our directory. Whenever possible, Regional Ambassadors will build relationships with local mental health agencies and other providers in order to obtain the most accurate and up-to-date information about their services. Second, they will also serve as brand ambassadors for Therapy4thePeople, leading projects to disseminate our organization to stakeholders in their region (e.g., through flyers, presentations, or other creative means).

Regional Ambassadors will begin by locating resources in their specific town or city (e.g., Dallas) and then work their way up to locating resources in their county (Dallas County), state (Texas), and ultimately region (the South). The inaugural cohort of Regional Ambassadors will represent four U.S. regions:  Northwest, Midwest,  South, and  West. We’re especially eager to bring on Ambassadors who live in rural or underserved areas. Regional Ambassadors will meet as a team twice per month to discuss strategies that have been successful for them in locating eligible resources and troubleshooting problem areas.

A one year commitment is required with the option to stay in the role for an additional year depending on prior performance and program needs. Regional Ambassadors will have a flexible schedule of approximately 5 hours per week, including bi-weekly check-ins with the team. If looking for additional hours or experiences for internship credit, this role can be expanded.
