Minds Matter DC is a dedicated group of volunteers that have come together from all walks of life to give back to our community. We take pride in the opportunity before us but we also recognize the personal leadership development and lasting connections being forged every day through this program. Our mission is to transform the lives of motivated high school students from low-resource families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success.

THE MENTOR ROLE:

Each student is paired with two mentors and meet every Saturday to work on essays, summer prep program selection, and school selection. Our mentors act as catalysts for the students, providing them with individual support and guidance, allowing each student to fulfill his or her potential and make the leap to college.

Mentor Expectations:

  • A college graduate
  • Act as a positive influence and a role model for students
  • Be a strong communicator to keep mentee, peers, and chapter leadership informed
  • Attend 75% of the sessions from September through May
  • Time commitment: 3-4hrs/week

Volunteers must be located in the DMV area.
