Volunteer Day Camp Counselor

About Us:

Barton Center for Diabetes Education Long Island Day Camp for children with type 1 diabetes. Diabetes? It is quietly tucked into an awesome daily schedule where life with diabetes is the norm and the most important thing is for campers to have the time of their life with others who are just like them.

Days are filled with sports activities, arts and crafts, swimming, talent shows, diabetes education game shows, hiking, and so much more. Activities vary from week to week. Many of our campers and volunteers return year after year.

Volunteers come from the greater Long Island area. About 70% of our volunteers have diabetes themselves.
