    Description

    After School Program Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to help at our After School program

The After School program has two main components. The first is homework help, as well as tutoring in reading and math. The second half of each day consists of enrichment activities designed to expose the children to new activities and topics. The children receive both a snack when they arrive and a meal after their homework and enrichment time. There are occasional field trips or other special activities.

    After School Program/Days/Times:

This program is held after school every Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 2:30pm-5:45pm.

    Summer Program/Days/Times:

This program is held after school every Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 9:00am-1:00pm.

    Available After School Volunteer Positions:

Tutors/Mentors: are needed to work with kids grade K-12 on their homework, especially working with reading, science, and math skills. Tutors/mentors also assist with the daily enrichment activities in whatever capacity is needed. It is preferred that volunteers have experience with working with youth and are available for long term assistance.

Enrichment Instructor: These individuals share a particular talent or interest with the youth, on a one-time or ongoing basis. Responsible for planning and implementing enrichment activities for all age groups, based on your area of interest/expertise. Examples include fine arts, science, music, physical activity, cooking, etc.

Qualifications for After School @ Seneca Street:

All volunteers responsible for the direct supervision of youth must be 18 years or older. We also help High School Students & College Students with their community service hours by volunteering with us. Before working with kids, all staff and volunteers will complete the required orientation and have completed a background check. Background checks will be conducted on returning volunteers at a minimum, every 2 years.

For more information, please check out our webpage, http://www.senecastreet.org and our Facebook Page. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Beth Ewen at bewen@senecastreetcdc.org or (716) 939-3501.
