Almost There Rescue (ATR) is seeking Foster Parents for a variety of dogs. Fostering is a large part of ATR's volunteer program and often it’s the last step before moms and puppies go on to their forever homes. When you foster, you’ll be increasing the dogs' adoptability by socializing them further, and you’ll be opening up kennel space so ATR can take in even more furry friends in need!
ATR provides you with all you will need for a successful experience. We will send you home with supplies and food, make sure you are properly trained and up to speed on the foster pup you are taking home and be there for you to support you and answer any questions you may have every step of the way.
Additionally, there are a lot of different foster experiences so you can decide what is the best fit for your family and lifestyle:
• Mama Dogs only: Pups have been weaned and mom is seeking some love and attention while she is waiting for her milk to dry up so she can be spayed. This is typically a shorter foster period lasting roughly 2-3 weeks.
• Pregnant Mama/Mama and Pups: Usually will be a longer foster period and more work than fostering a single dog. Your focus will be to help mom stay comfortable and calm while she focuses on raising her pups. The foster period is typically anywhere from 5-10 weeks.
• Puppies Only: Once pups have been weaned from mom, they are ready to go to foster to prepare them for life in their forever homes. Your focus will be on helping the pups learn, grow and progress into the best dogs they can be. The foster period is typically anywhere from 3-5 weeks.
• Bottle Babies: This is a labor-intensive position, but SO rewarding. Bottle babies are puppies who cannot yet eat on their own and they require frequent care and attention (typically every couple hours). You will be helping the pup through the most critical time in its life since mom is not able to provide care. The foster period is anywhere from 1-4 weeks.
About Almost There Rescue:
Almost There Rescue (ATR) is a 501c3 which specializes in large-breed pregnant dogs and their pups who need time and space to grow and become socialized. Our dogs are given significant socialization, enrichment, and behavior shaping exercises to set them up for success in their future forever homes. ATR is determined to give adopters all of the information we have collected for each pup so that we can help find the perfect match for both human and dog. All of our dogs are altered, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on vaccines prior to adoption.
