Artists needed to help program support

The Phoenix is searching for talented artists who are skilled in painting and other mediums to help bring free workshops/lessons for the sober active community. Our programs are primarily fitness-based but we realize the need for creative and artistic outlets for many people.

Ideally, we would like someone who has direct experience with recovery (or a strong passion and commitment to social justice, mental health), has a background in fine arts (a degree is not completely necessary, if you have the skills, we want to meet you), and is willing to help lead and/or support a monthly art event in Culver City, CA (or elsewhere as the program expands).

We will provide ALL supplies to the community for free and will train volunteers on how to lead events and abide by our guiding principles/community standards.

As an Art Volunteer Instructor, you will...

• Lead one monthly event at a park or, ideally, a space that is safe and open. We typically meet at Veterans Park in Culver City.
• Commit to this for ideally 5-6+ months if possible.
• Help spread the word and drive attendance.
• Ensure all participants feel comfortable with the art skills they bring
• Complete our Phoenix 101 and FEPSIA training (online) and obtain a CPR/AED -- we can provide training for this.
• Bring your creative ideas to help think of monthly art events!

We are ultimately seeking someone who genuinely loves to help others use art as a self-exploration tool. Although this is not art therapy, we want our attendees to experience the transformational power of it!
