    Description

Help Care for Our Birds of Prey

The Aviary is home to our turkey vulture, barn owl, and black vulture. If you love birds, volunteering in the Aviary is a unique way to get hands-on experience while helping care for their habitat.

Shifts are flexible, about 45 minutes to an hour, and must be completed by 2:00 p.m. We’re currently looking for one volunteer to join us on Mondays—come spend time with some incredible feathered friends!

For consistency and training purposes, you should be able to commit to a weekly shift (same day and time) for at least 3 months.

    Tasks Include:

    • Picking up remains of previous meals and excess droppings
    • Cleaning the water features and disinfecting the equipment
    • Checking doors for security

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift 10 lbs.
    • Ability to balance and walk on a slope
    • Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word
    • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels
    • Visual acuity is required for determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities
    • Must be comfortable working outdoors and around insects
