    Description

Children on Skid Row Need Your Support!

You can make a positive impact on the life of a student devasted by homelessness. Join a community of compassionate individuals dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students residing in homeless shelters, motels, group foster homes, and vehicles throughout Southern California.

School on Wheel's Skid Row Learning Center is a vibrant afterschool program for children experiencing homelessness. Our center, which serves K-5th graders supports healthy social emotional development, homework help, mentorship and more!

We are looking for caring, creative individuals who can volunteer to work with us in our afterschool placeroom, ensuring that our students have individualized academic and mentorship support.

Our program is on weekdays between 3-5pm. We provide in-depth training and ongoing support to all our tutors. We especially need support during the summer months, May - August!

Volunteer Testimony: If someone asked me why they should become a tutor, I would say, "Do it! It’s fun, it’s important, and it’s rewarding. I love reminding children that education and growth are exciting and fun. Seeing a shift in attitude and perspective towards education is the greatest and most rewarding gift. -Volunteer Tutor, Nick
