Resources to Inspire Students and Educators (RISE) has once again been named one of the best non-profits in the Washington, D.C., area by the Catalogue for Philanthropy. Come work for this award-winning organization!

RISE needs dedicated mentors to work with college bound students in Wards 5, 7, and 8, helping them with their college selection and application process. We have an immediate need to help rising seniors with their college selections and applications. We will also have a need to help rising juniors. The mentoring will continue through enrollment in the spring of senior year.

The mentoring program is part of RISE's College Prep Plus program, where students also receive training for the SAT or ACT and visit, pre- and post-pandemic, up to a dozen colleges out of town. Some of the colleges on RISE trips include: The University of Toledo, Clark Atlanta, North Carolina A&T, Norfolk State, Claflin, and Temple University.

Mentors are expected to meet with their students at least once a month and be in contact with them weekly. Meetings can be at school or at another, mutually convenient site. Training will be provided, and there will be support throughout the program. In addition to helping students with their college and financial aid application process, the mentors will be expected to help students stay focused in school, including participating in extra-curricular activities and enrolling in as challenging a curriculum as possible. RISE's experienced tutors are available for any students struggling in their work.

This is an opportunity to change a student's life as well as your own!
