Hospice Patient Companion Volunteer for NorthWest OKC!

Are you an "expressive" type of guy who enjoys talking to folks? Do you have compassion and good conversational skills? Do you enjoy activities that are meaningful and fulfilling? If so, you'll really like serving as a HOSPICE PATIENT COMPANION VOLUNTEER. We have some wonderful patients in the Northwest sector of OKC who could use some friendly companionship! Below are just some of the fun activities you can enjoy with your assigned patient --

--Make scheduled visits to the patient/family, offering support, encouragement, and help.

--Sit and visit with the patient for companionship, providing respite for family members.

--Make crafts with the patient and/or read to them, watch TV or movies with them.

--Report patient observations and reactions regarding changes in patient status to the Volunteer Coordinator.

--Document your visits on a Volunteer Visit Note and turn them in to the Volunteer Coordinator.

--Attend in-services and annual memorial services.

--Practice infection control and standard precautions to ensure the safety of the patient.

--Be recognized at our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner!

--Live the PLUS* Standards in the care of patients, tasks and interactions with others.
