    Description

    Overview

Do you want to stand out on your OCT application?

Or are you an undergraduate student looking to get involved in making a difference in your community? If so, then BeAstro is the place for you (https://beastro.org).

BeAstro is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the educational experience within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Our mission is to bridge the gap between teachers and the support they need by connecting committed volunteers with local elementary and high school teachers. We provide teachers with the help they need to create enriched learning environments while giving students access to enhanced educational experiences.

Our pilot project will see selected volunteers to be working directly with teachers either (a) during class time, (b) afterschool and/or weekends, or (c) both. These volunteers will be equipped with all the resources necessary to deliver exceptional support to teachers throughout the school year. In recognition of their contributions, volunteers will receive a great addition to their resume, and invaluable experience working with teachers.

    Qualifications

    • Enrollment in an accredited College or University within the GTA (with consideration for those studying in London or Montreal)
    • Preferably pursuing a degree in psychology, philosophy, or education.
    • 1-2 years of experience in a classroom-like setting, such as tutoring or working as a camp counselor.

    Duties

    • Once selected as an Agent, you will work directly with teachers during school hours, after school, on weekends, or a combination of these. BeAstro will provide you with the tools needed to implement our 'CAST' support model, ensuring that you can make a meaningful impact.
    • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude towards teachers, students, and BeAstro staff.
    • Complete assignments on time to assist the teachers you support.
    • Use BeAstro's resources wisely to enhance your ability to support the teacher.
    • Collaborate with fellow Agents to share knowledge and strategies.
