    Description

    1:1 Memory Care Respite Companion

Our 1:1 Memory Care Companion volunteers offer quality companionship to someone with memory loss. This allows the primary caregiver to take a few hours off to attend to their own needs.

This has several benefits as it gives the primary caregiver time for their own self-care, to run errands, attend appointments, go for a walk, etc.

While the caregiver is taking a break, the volunteer will be providing companionship to the care receiver. Some activities include: doing puzzles, listening to music, going for walks, looking through old photos, engaging in arts and crafts, etc.

The purpose and role of this position is to provide safe and nurturing support for the person with memory loss - while giving their caregiver (typically a spouse or a family member) an opportunity to take a break from his/her caregiving responsibilities.

All volunteers are trained at the Center prior to being matched.

We look forward to hearing from you!
