The Rian Immigrant Center, located in downtown Boston, are seeking volunteers for an upcoming one-off volunteer project next week. We are excited to have a new children’s play area in the Guest Services area of our office. To complete this project, we need 2-3 volunteers to come to our office to assemble the furniture for the new space. We estimate that the project will take only a few hours if we have a few volunteers working together. This project would take place during office hours next week. Our office remains closed due to the pandemic but we are getting the space ready for when we reopen. For anyone concerned about their health and safety related to Covid, there would only be a Rian staff person in the office (who would meet you and show you what needed to be done). They would wear a mask and would be fully vaccinated.

The following is a list of the items that need to be assembled:

  • small play kitchen
  • one table and chairs (kid sized)
  • one small 2 cubby toy holder
  • one six bin toy holder
  • 3 shelves

If you have the knack for this type of project, and are interested and available, we would love to hear from you as soon as possible to put a schedule in place for the project. You are free to bring a friend/family member along to help if you’d like or it would be a great family/work group/friend group volunteer project. Ww would just need to know numbers in advance.

Please email volunteering@riancenter.org if you are interested or have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much.

ABOUT THE RIAN IMMIGRANT CENTER (formerly the Irish International Immigrant Center)

We empower over 3,500 immigrants and refugees annually from more than 120 countries by providing the legal, wellness and educational support they need to build successful lives. Building on our Irish roots of welcoming others and social justice, we help newcomers find community, and we stand up for immigration policies that are humane and just. America is a nation of immigrants, and despite the current political climate, we are proud to continue the tradition of welcoming immigrants to this country and working together to create a better future for all.

Our vision is of a society where all people are welcomed and valued and enjoy equal opportunities and protections. Rooted in the Irish tradition of hospitality, we work to create a safe and welcoming place for people from around the world who come to our Center.
