Purpose: 

The Fundraising Chair shall shall serve as an integral leader on the Democrats Abroad Mexico City (DACDMX) Executive Board and shall develop the strategy for fundraising and coordinate all activities within the chapter that generate donations. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategy, timeline, budget, and goals for fundraising initiatives. This can include planning fundraising events, conducting individual donor outreach, conducting sponsorship outreach, and managing the design, purchase, and sale of DA merchandise.
  • Develop and lead the DACDMX Fundraising Committee, composed of interested volunteers and other Board members. Provide training, and support for those volunteers.
  • Work closely with the Events chair to organize and attend fundraising-specific events and create fundraising opportunities at other events (staff a fundraising table, host a raffle, solicit donations, sell merchandise, etc).
  • Serve on the DAMX Fundraising Committee. Stay apprised of programs being coordinated by the DAMX fundraising team.
  • With the Chair, write funding proposals and submit them to potential donors.
  • Ensure that donors to DACDMX receive acknowledgement of their gifts in a timely manner.
  • Ensure, with the Treasurer, that all donations are recorded and acknowledged in accordance with Federal Election Commission requirements for political donations. Maintain copies of all financial documentation that may be required by law.
  • Ensure compliance with fundraising rules as specified by DACDMX, DAMX, DPCA, and the US and Mexican governments.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Chair.


Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Strong communication skills required. 
  • Willingness to learn and use Nationbuilder required.
  • Basic ability to budget and manage money required.
  • Experience in grassroots fundraising efforts, especially the organization and execution of events, execution of individual donor outreach, and design and sales of merchandise preferred.
  • Team leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience volunteering or familiarity with Democrats Abroad preferred.
  • Willingness to use Google Workspace/Google Drive and WhatsApp preferred.


Additional Requirements:

  • US citizenship.
  • Over the age of 18.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Current Democrats Abroad membership or willingness to join (no fee).
  • Ability to attend monthly hour-long meetings with the board on the third Saturday of each month at 1pm CDT (via Zoom).
  • Residence in the greater Mexico City area (or surrounding states, including Puebla, Hidalgo, Estado de Mexico, Morelos, etc)
  • Commit to this position through March 2023 (barring unforeseen events).
