**All AmeriCorps positions are service opportunities. You are required to serve 10 months of service on a modest living allowance for the duration of the program. **

You’re dedicated to service with an entrepreneurial mindset and are interested in getting your hands dirty in all aspects of our volunteer engagement, customer service, and nonprofit capacity-building efforts. You might describe yourself as ambitious, a hustler, and a positive force. You’re interested in being an engaged member of the Hands On Atlanta team and a participant in the AmeriCorps cohort. 


Wait, so what is AmeriCorps?

This is an AmeriCorps position. AmeriCorps is a national service program, in which individuals dedicate their time to improving lives and fostering civic engagement. Hands On Atlanta’s AmeriCorps program is a 10 month commitment, in which members serve in elementary and middle schools and other local nonprofits. Over the 10 month period (August-May), members serve full-time and receive a bi-monthly living stipend and an education award once their service term is complete. Ideal candidates should have/be:

•Experience in nonprofit management, nutrition, customer service, marketing, communications, public relations, or related field

•Experience working or interning at a nonprofit organization

• Volunteer/community service experience 

• Comfortable developing and maintaining partnerships with local food pantries

• Comfortable learning and using a CRM and help desk software (Salesforce, Zendesk, etc.)

• Ability to collect, track, analyze and report on data


Preferred Skills

• Highly organized; ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve goals in a fast-paced environment

• Strong writing and copy-editing skills

• Effective communication skills, including comfort with public speaking                                                                                                                                    

• Demonstrated leadership skills 

• High level of professionalism and ability to take initiative 


Requirements:

• Ability to work effectively with others who have diverse perspectives, talents, and backgrounds 

• Eagerness to learn, contribute, and grow 

• Experience with Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel)

• Basic graphic design skills (you’ve worked with Canva, etc.)

• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to navigate in and around greater Atlanta


In order to be eligible to serve as a full-time Hands On Atlanta AmeriCorps member, you must meet these eligibility requirements at the start of service.

• Able to commit to completing 1,700 hours of full-time service over 10 months 

• Have a High School diploma

• Some college preferred 

• Able to clear state and federal background checks 

• Able to clear a NSOPW check

• Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Nationals or Lawful Permanent Residents of the U.S. 


Benefits:

Full-time members will receive a living stipend of $15,100 and an education award of $6,345 after successfully completing the 1,700 hours of service. AmeriCorps members, if eligible, are encouraged to apply for food benefits (SNAP/EBT) while they are in service. Members may apply for loan forbearance on federal loans that qualify. Note, members must submit their own forbearance applications to their loan holder.

All members receive extensive, ongoing training to support their development, including 1:1 mentorship, community building activities, and robust educational and professional development training.


Recruitment Process:

The application process is on a rolling basis February-July 2021. We encourage applicants to apply early. Please visit our website for more details. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a phone screen and a subset of candidates screened over the phone will be invited for a group interview. Special accommodations will be made for out of state candidates. The Corporation for National and Community Service requires a separate online application. A select group of final candidates, who have participated in a networking/group interview, will be invited to complete the CNCS application. After completion of this application Finalists will be invited for an individual interview with leaders of the Hands On Atlanta AmeriCorps team and asked to submit references.
