Delaware River (NJ & PA) Environmental Nonprofit Seeking New Committee Members

Calling all environmentalists and Delaware River lovers! Growing nonprofit supporting the Wild & Scenic Rivers Partnership Program of the National Park Service seeks new committee members. We seek to engage with public and private partners to promote stewardship of the River and its tributaries by fostering a shared sense of place among river communities by preserving and enhancing the natural, ecological, scenic, historic, cultural, and recreational resources of the Lower Delaware River in NJ and PA. Programs are guided by our Strategic Plan and include: Delaware River Scenic Byway, Delaware River Water Trail, Delaware River Heritage Trail, and Lower Delaware Wild & Scenic River.

Qualifications for committee members includes an interest in the Delaware River, possibly a science or environmental background or a strong interest in environmental issues. Those who love the outdoors (hiking, paddling, fishing), or anyone interested in supporting a growing nonprofit, are encouraged to apply.

Duties of a committee member:

  • Become knowledgeable about the organization and organizational initiatives;
  • Prepare for and attend periodic committee meetings, generally held for one hour virtually on a quarterly basis;
  • Follow up and complete committee work including supporting communications, research, fundraising, events, outreach and programs;
  • Support our mission to promote cross-river connections and communication

The volunteer commitment is limited but your impact can be great. We support equity and inclusion in all programs, projects, and in the selection of volunteer leadership.
