    Description

    The Volunteer Financial Instructor supports Project Prosper’s mission of providing financial education to immigrants. As an instructor, you’ll play a crucial role in empowering individuals with essential financial knowledge. 

    Your Responsibilities will be

    • Conduct financial education group classes for adult immigrants, covering topics such as budgeting, saving, credit, credit reports, home buying, investment principles, etc. 
    • Collect attendance in each class. 
    • Give and collect pre- and post-tests. 
    • Facilitate discussions, answer questions, and provide practical examples related to personal finance. 
    • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment. 

    Qualifications

    • Have a degree or experience in finance, economics, education, or any financial-related field. 
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial concepts in simple terms. 
    • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the unique challenges faced by immigrants. 
    • Prior teaching or training experience is a plus. 

    As a volunteer, you will be supported every step of the way. We will provide participant’s guides, PowerPoints, additional financial resources, etc. To get started, attend a volunteer orientation. Then, shadow one class before teaching on your own. You choose the classes you want to teach (subject to availability).

    If you've never taught in the classroom or over webinars before, we're here to prepare you for both settings and ensure you feel comfortable teaching your first and every class afterward.
