Foxfire South Nature Area is home to an uncommon butterfly called the Acadian Hairstreak. This butterfly is light gray and dotted with orange spots on the hindwing. In warmer months, you might be able to spot this butterfly in the wetland near the stream in Foxfire South. Help us protect this butterfly habitat by removing invasive shrubs! Pre-registration through Rec1 is required as space is limited. Participants must wear a mask and maintain a 6-ft distance from others at all times. Please wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and leather work gloves. All minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Tools and know-how provided. Meeting location will be provided after registration.
