Summer Camp Volunteers in Honduras

Summer Camp Counselors who join BECA will live in BECA’s volunteer housing in Cofradia and will be responsible for planning and executing all daily activities at our camp at San Jeronimo Bilingual School. Instructors will work with students in 1st - 5th grades. The goal is to make the summer program a fun way for students to maintain/increase their English language ability and reduce summer learning loss.

Instructors will plan activities across all disciplines including art, reading and writing, and physical education. Summer Camp runs for 3 weeks from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Monday through Friday. Lunch is served at the school for camp counselors and the remainder of the afternoon is free for you to plan the next day's lessons, work on a group project, and to go on home visits and immerse yourself in the community. Over the weekends, most volunteers travel throughout Honduras to go to the beach, lake, or mountains, or to nearby Copan to explore the Mayan Ruins.

Prospective candidates should be enthusiastic, creative, and committed to making a positive impact in the summer months of BECA's students.
