Judge Debates Online about Criminal Justice Reform with Washington Urban Debate!

Come judge debates about Criminal Justice Reform with the Washington Urban Debate League, online! We are growing like crazy, adding more than 15 debate programs this fall despite the pandemic. Every judge allows 4 more students to participate, and your feedback is crucial to their continued growth.

About Us:

The Washington Urban Debate League (WUDL) is a local non-profit that supports debate programs at public schools in D.C. and the surrounding areas. We know from extensive research that debate is one of the best things a student can do with their time, but it isn't often available to students in public schools and under-resourced communities. The WUDL fills the gap, starting new debate programs, writing curriculum, hosting tournaments, sponsoring travel, and removing the barriers to entry for students across the region.

We've been named "One Of The Best" local non-profits by the D.C. Catalog of Philanthropy, and the National Association of Urban Debate Leagues named us the Urban Debate League of the Year (reigning) and one of our students Urban Debater of the Year (2019). We've also won Middle School Nationals two years in a row. We're looking to expand our team to serve more students and more schools across the metro area, and to have the resources necessary to continue our transformational mission in a sustainable way.

This year's topic is Criminal Justice Reform, a timely conversation as our nation grapples with massive social movements for change in this policy area.

A full calendar of our tournaments for the season can be found on our website, here:
