JOB DESCRIPTION

I.             POSITION SUMMARY:

The Volunteer Coordinator identifies volunteers and provides direction, coordination, and consultation for all volunteer functions within the WEW organization. Strengthens program/development efforts and results with volunteer/community services. Involves a community of supporters as described in the duties outlined below. Assists senior leadership in maintaining and enhancing collaborative community relations.


II.           ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Organizes, coordinates and manages the recruitment and orientation of volunteers for the board, various committees,
  • departments and programs.
  • Works with social, civic and local organizations to develop partnerships, where appropriate, to develop and/or utilize volunteers.
  • Develops and implements training programs for all volunteers.
  • Maintains updated records on all volunteers.
  • Sets up and attends volunteer meetings.
  • Reports to staff on volunteer activities as needed. Recommends and develops ongoing volunteer utilization. Develops and implements a volunteer recognition program.
  • Other duties as assigned.


III.          KEY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

§ Promote the volunteer program to gain community support of the volunteer program and the organization.

§ Assist executive director with development  and implement goals and objectives for the volunteer program.

§ Evaluate all aspects of volunteer programs, implement changes, and/or make  appropriate recommendations.

§ Recruit and Orient volunteers to increase their understanding of the organization, its clients, its services.

§ Conduct ongoing evaluation of the programs and services delivered by volunteers and implement

§ improvements as necessary.

§ Plan  volunteer recognition activities to recognize the contribution of volunteers.

§ Assist the executive director with preparing quarterly/annual reports involving volunteer projects/activities.

§ Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience -Three years job-related experience, such as working in a non-profit, managing volunteer programs, and/or leading teams and/or organizations.

 

Technical Skills and Abilities -- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in Microssot Office, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Publisher or related marketing software.
