Great, wonderful and impactful relationships develop when a veteran hospice volunteer is assigned to a hospice patient who is a veteran. The comradery between the two is magic.
Hi, my name is Mike Del Vecchio and I am the Volunteer Coordinator for our hospice agency Continuum Hospice & Palliative Care of Rhode Island. Please contact me should you be interested in becoming a hospice veteran volunteer. This is a very rewarding journey and such a great way to give back to your community by being a friend and companion to someone who's future is uncertain.
I offer free volunteer training that is easy and educational as it pertains to your role as a hospice volunteer. I am with you every step of the way. You will never feel unsure about things or nervous. We will visit your patient together to ensure a good pairing.
When we meet for our volunteer get to know interview, we can cover all the activities you can do and some common hospice patient interests.
The volunteer visit commitment is easy and flexible just 3 visits a month for about an hour. You can absolutely visit more than 3 times and stay longer if you wish. I like to make it easy for you while being impactful for your patient as they engage in friendly socialization with you. You set your own visit schedule just as long as you commit to making 3 visits a month as this is your visit care plan and will be noted in your hospice patient medical record.
Please contact me with any questions.
