About the Women’s Global Leadership Initiative
Women’s Global Leadership Initiative (WGLI) is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization, founded in 2008. It is dedicated to unlocking the leadership potential of women of different socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds who want to make a difference in their communities by realizing their full leadership potential.
WGLI’S mission is to build women leaders across the globe. Regardless of socio-economic conditions, WGLI will provide every woman with the opportunity to an education, the ability to invest in her future and the tools and knowledge to contribute to her community.
*In response to COVID-19 WGLI developed a women’s training program that will help in the employment and education recovery efforts. According to the US Census 2020 ‘Women have accounted for nearly 56 percent of the workforce exits since the start of the pandemic, despite making up just 48 percent of the workforce. Among those hit hardest are underrepresented and women of color. The financial security they once counted on, jeopardized. Many who also face disproportionate care burdens that create even greater challenges?
Faced with the uncertainty of future employment many women who need to go back to work and those whose career paths were disrupted are asking themselves ‘what do I do next, how can I prepare, how do I advance versus returning to a dead end job, should I seek training, go to school, what???
In an effort to reach the women who would benefit most and begin to prepare women for next steps, WGLI is setting out to partner with Bay Area agencies that provide vital access and support services to underrepresented women: Women’s community service providers, public health agencies, and non-profits are among agencies who serve the largest number of women who need assistance.
